Divorce: Man abandons matrimonial home, lives in mosque

...Divorce!
A 39-year-old man, Mr. Kazeem Taiwo, has abandoned his matrimonial home and now lives in a mosque in a bid to
dissolve his marriage.
Taiwo had approached the court in November 2011, seeking the dissolution of his marriage with his 33-year-old wife, Hawau.
He said,“What I want is a divorce and the custody of the children. I don’t love her anymore. My continued marriage with her will make me know no peace. I have the wherewithal to take care of my children if their custody is given to me.”
At the first hearing of the case last November, Kazeem had told the court that Hawau was a troublemaker and that he had to pay the hospital bill of a victim whom she beat up over a little disagreement.
Kazeem, a civil servant, added that Hawau was stubborn, disrespectful and unfriendly to his family members and did not take care of their children.

But, Hawau, who was absent during the resumed hearing on Wednesday refuted her husband’s claims at the last sitting. She told the court that she was still interested in the marriage and that she still loves him.
Reiterating his stance for a divorce, Kazeem told the court that Hawau had continued unabated with her misbehaviour, which prompted him to approach the court for the dissolution of the marriage.
“She still doesn’t cook meals for the children, she rather prefers to patronise food vendors,” he said.
When asked if the mosque’s imam who promised to intervene in the matter had done so, Kazeem said the cleric had pacified him but that his mind was already made up.
The Court President, Mrs A.I. Olorunnimbe, urged Kazeem to stop keeping malice with his wife in the interest of the children...“It’s very bad of you to keep malice with your wife whom you had three children with. You have to stop the act. Besides, it will tell greatly on the upbringing of the children,” Olorunnimbe said.>>(on point)
